Benefits Specialist

Location: Scottsdale, AZ (Hybrid - 2 to 3 Days In Office Per Week)
Pay Rate: Up to $35.00 per hour
Schedule: Full-Time

Position Summary

We are seeking a customer-focused and detail-oriented Benefits Specialist to support the administration of our employee benefits programs. This employee-facing role will serve as a key resource for benefits administration, leave of absence management, workers' compensation claims, and employee support.

The ideal candidate will have approximately 2-4 years of HR, benefits, or leave administration experience and be comfortable managing employee inquiries, coordinating with vendors, and maintaining accurate records within HR systems. This position works closely with the Total Rewards Manager and Director and offers a hybrid schedule with 2-3 days per week in our Scottsdale office.

Essential Responsibilities

Benefits Administration

  • Administer employee benefit programs and support day-to-day benefits operations.
  • Manage employee Qualified Life Events (QLEs) and benefits changes within the HRIS system.
  • Respond to employee benefits inquiries and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Serve as the point of contact for escalated benefits questions that cannot be resolved through the company's benefits call center (Lockton).
  • Coordinate with benefit vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of employee issues.
  • Assist with benefits enrollment, eligibility changes, and ongoing employee education.

Leave of Absence Management

  • Manage and coordinate employee leaves of absence, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, state leave programs, and company leave policies.
  • Communicate with employees, managers, and third-party administrators throughout the leave process.
  • Maintain accurate leave records and monitor timelines, documentation requirements, and return-to-work processes.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable leave laws and company policies.

Workers' Compensation Administration

  • Manage workers' compensation claims and coordinate with employees, managers, carriers, and third-party administrators.
  • Track claim progress and support return-to-work efforts as appropriate.
  • Maintain complete and accurate claim documentation.

Administrative & Project Support

  • Provide administrative support to the Total Rewards Manager and Director.
  • Assist with benefits-related projects, communications, audits, and process improvements.
  • Maintain confidential employee information with a high level of professionalism and discretion.
  • Support additional administrative duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • 2-4 years of experience in benefits administration, leave management, HR operations, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting employee-facing HR or benefits programs.
  • Working knowledge of leave of absence administration and workers' compensation processes.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

Preferred

  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now.
  • Experience managing life events, benefit eligibility changes, and employee benefit transactions within an HRIS.

Technical Skills

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, including:
    • Outlook
    • Word
    • PowerPoint
    • Basic Excel (sorting, filtering, spreadsheets, and simple formulas)
